Best and Worst from the MET ball

Hello Peoples,

The theme for the 2013 MET ball was "goth" and the stars outdid themselves at the biggest night in fashion in NY. Here are some of my yays and nays from the evening

i dont know why some people accept invites to things and then decide to throw on the nearest table cloth last minute. its the MET ball, the theme is goth, try to look like you care or don't go ....msschheww

 Playing with little boys is bad for your head. makes you think you're 30 years younger and poorer than you actually are. How else do you explain Madge's uncreative outfit..Yawn yawn

Somewhere an Italian grandmother is mourning the loss of her favorite artifact of a couch. Being pregnant is no excuse for looking like a this. I like her make up though but wait, is the shoe strap flower print too. Dear Lord its a firrrreeee

Yep Alexa Chung made my worst list, only because i expect more from her...this is just urrrghhh ,plain.

 was she going for the"overripe peach" look. i don't get it, im going to imagine she was high when she picked this out.

they lied when they said this chic can do no wrong. She got the growth theme wrong and i really will throw a fit if i see her in another body hugging gold dress with that pose and why the boots this time . arrrghhh....but seriously beyonce tuli bakoowu..

black girl hair problems!!

This is what happens when you keep braids in too long. I kept mine for a good four months and by the time i took them out, my hair had happily formed little locs. Why did i keep them in so long you ask. Well i'm living in Europe and everyone generally looks like a hot mess so i fit right in with the old braids. Alright i'm exaggerating a little but people here really are crazy about dressing like they are homeless, you know that look that says" i'm not tying too hard", which look by the way requires a lot of work. Also the hippies scene is quite alive and so an African girl with old braids is not just acceptable, it is "cool". On my part, i just didn't care, being a full time student ensures that having unkempt hair  is the least of my worries.

I am growing out my natural hair ...yes again so no relaxers for me and so i will only have it out for a short while before i have to braid it, mostly for the convenience of not having to do my hair.

In true spirit of a hippie convert broke student that loves to experiment, i will be plaiting my own hair. Right now i am toying with the idea of plaiting crazy long twists with afro kinky hair extensions but i'm not too sure. 

If you have attempted to braid your own hair, tips are welcome. 

It feels good to have my hair out though, i really did miss it, the feel of free i call it

People who make good music - DELILAH

Have you listened to Delilah? If not, then find a shame corner and stay there for awhile. This daughter of a woman really can sing. Some of my favorites from her are Inside my love. Go, Shades of Grey and Breathe and i must say she or her team do a great job with the videos. The are creatively done: the one for Breathe for example has a main theme, a story of sorts but also leaves a great deal of the interpretation to you the viewer.

I advise that unless you are "cool" with your mother, do not watch this with her. It is a little a lot on the sensual side.A real kind of sensual.

Some people have compared her sound to Adele, Amy Whinehouse, Corrinne Bailey Ray and even Sade but i say you check her out and hear for yourself.

I heart SHUGA

I watched the MTV produced series when it came out a couple of years ago and i was so impressed i wanted to be cast in the show. I thought it was rather well done and such an apt portrayal of  HIV AIDS, sexual behavior among young people and how the great "sexual network" plays out in reality. The show is centered around the lives of a group of young friends as they explore love, lust and grapple with the realities of HIV. I excitedly got my hands on series 2 as soon as it was released and it actually gets better. Series 2 explores even more themes, introduces new characters and is on the whole a bigger production than 1. It is also 3 episodes longer so more goodness for us.

I am an ardent fan of quality African film productions and while they aren't too many i would proudly recommend, this has got to be it for me. It is also a great display of talent from from the continent, the cast did a brilliant job with this one and the music from the show is great too. I could gush about this show all day if i could.

I spent the better part of today re watching both series 1 and 2 and enjoyed it as much as i did the first time.  I do hope series 3 will be out soon.
