Hello people

My lovely blogger friend Fafi from fashion phoenix and YNC tagged me in this. So here is my post.

I spotted this bag with a mobile sales man on my way from work and decided to buy it. It is Gianni Chiarini and genuine leather and i love it, one of my few big bags. The colour is a minimalistic orangy shade that looks better when old and not so clean. 

And now the contents
My note book.
This is really important , i always carry it everywhere . I am those people who write down everything they have to do for the day , week etc . It helps me feel organised and it actually works. This notebook has different sections and i divide my work as such .I even have a section where i write my future plans , be it business or anything really. There is a list of my wedding songs somewhere in there, basically write anything that i dont wanna forget. If im not carrying a smaller bag i will carry a smaller version of a notebook
My shades , spects case
I live in Africa so its sunny alot so this carries my ray ban sunglasses. I use this case to carry my spectacles too, its big enough to carry both plus carrying two different cases is a bother and probably heavier. I mostly wear my spectacles them while using a computer but i have recently discovered they can be used to play and look serious while actually slightly tipsy at the bar..

Victoria Secret, Too sexy mini perfume
I love this scent and i carry the smaller version of the perfume to take me through the day.
Bits of food..Snickers chocolate this time 
I always have some sort of bite in my bag. Its crazy sometimes i will forget the food in there and only find it the next day when i change bags. I mostly carry crackers, crisps and of course fried ground nuts . snacks to get me through the day
A good book
I like to read while i wait in line at the bank, in peoples offices and in the taxi on my way home. I have only started reading this book so im not yet that into it or maybe im over these kind of books. I went through a phase where i enjoyed reading books by female British authors. The stories were funny and light, mostly about marriage, life, finding yourself etc i enjoyed reading them plus the animations on the covers always attracted me ,This is a book from one of those phases. On my book list are Bossy pants, Tina fey and the newest kitty kelley's unauthorized biographies. I dont know which one i just love her books
SELF make up bag
That is what its meant to be but i end up keeping other things in there, I rarely wear make up so carrying it is even more rare. I throw my flash disk, Lip gloss, Eye liner, bag holder, eye drops and bag holder etc
Bag holder/hanger
I dont even know what this little thing is called but you propel it to a table and hang your bag on it. does anyone get my explanation>? It comes in handy when you go out and you can find a surface on which to place your bag.
Handkerchief
I try to have one always. I was in a girls school for six years so i was told it was lady like . I think im more inclined towards wipes though and i will be sure to jump on that wagon instead,. For one they are damp n smell nice and also you dont have to wash...yes thats a plus.
Cussons perfumed baby jelly
I like the smell of babies and this is the closest to replicating it. I have dry skin so this comes in handy. Plus it also serves as lip gloss sometimes. An essential
My Samsung B3310 Corby.
This is not in the picture but it works wonders for me . Like any other phone it calls and texts but also keeps me tweeting and basic surfing. I also take my pictures with it.

I almost left that out. I carry my money, cards , IDs in there. It usually fills up with business cards so i transfer them to another one i have at home. This is nothing fancy though. I have a dream wallet/purse and im working on getting it . It however involves a little begging and maybe stealing of some nature.. all harmless

I mostly carry small bags so i only carry the essentials in that case but this is what my bag looks like on an average work day Monday.

The one about playing around and needing your help

Boring weekends at home are for playing around with old things to make new ones. I spent some time making necklaces i had been planning to make for a while . I also tried to make a skirt from one of my mums old kitengi blouses but i think i will leave the sewing to the tailors. After several attempts to get the shape right i gave up and decided i would take my measurements and material to a professional tailor. Enough of that. Here are the results from my playing around.

I had this stone from an old necklace whose leather string got spoilt so i just played around with some other string and metal and came up with a cute pendant. sorry you cant see it up close. I made it longer than the original so it feels new. 

These wooden beads were from this huge elaborate necklace that i didn't really like,  I took it apart and maintained part of it as a necklace and used some of the beads to make cards last Christmas season. Anyways this was a really simple one and im glad i saved some of these beads. I love it. Its gonna be great on all my bright colored outfits.

This maybe the most complicated one of the bunch to explain but i will try. So i cut up some old material into strings. I then knotted the strings at different points. With each knot i attached a pearl as you can see. I then arranged the strings to my desired shape of the necklace. I wanted three different layers that meet at some point. You could do this almost any way really. I decided to create a twists towards the end of the necklace and then knotted. There you have it. I hope you try this one out. I love the result.I am wearing it today actually. And my mum looked at me this morning and said "oh so you actually wear your stuff" Im not sure it was a compliment but i love my necklace so i will regard it as one. 

On an unrelated note i got a phone call from this lady inviting me to some sort of private party. ....stop your brain right there, not private like that....Its a radio station party and the theme is Hollywood. I know a bit about fashion but in my brain Hollywood screams 1960s, 50s 70s Hollywood glamour. big hair, long slits, blood red lips, Marilyn Monroe, the amazing Catherine deneauve etc.  The stars in Hollywood today are glamorous but also style is very personal and they all seen to wear what they want and so im stranded as to what fits the dress code HOLLYWOOD.  I want to be a good law abiding girl so help me out ladies ..and some gentlemen.

Vintage Blue

I shopped this top from my friends closet. We both are into vintage styled clothes and we take turns shopping from each others closets. A very good way to update your closet by the way.  My brother says my style is grandmotherly and when i wore this outfit my mum looked at me like i reminded her of herself those days.

All black and Ruffled bag

I wore this on one of those workish Saturdays. I was helping out at a photo shoot for a friends project. I guess cameras make me wanna pose too so i took some pics of my outfit. Its all black and ordinary but my highlight really is my bag. I love it. I got is for about 5000/= in  Owino, a big thrift market in Kampala. It was one of those chance findings.

A thrifted splash of color

I was heading home from work with a  friend when we decided to run by the night street markets in Kampala. Normally it is not good to buy clothes at night (see end of the post)  Anyways for by some chance we ran into this guy who was selling these skirts that looked weird from a far but since my friend n i are into that we checked them out . He had them in different textures and best of all the colors plus they were so cheap, 3000 shs thats about 1.5 dollars. I got three and she got two. I could have bought more but i had to pay for my taxi home so i sadly left some behind. Check out my loot

Why you normally shouldn't thrift at night & tips

You could buy  a really nice top and discover it has a hole or several only the next day. you could also find it has "pimples" (worn out)

You could also buy a cloth that was a certain color, at least you think and then get home and find that its a different color, faded and unwearable.

I tend to think that if your buying clothes at night ,people have already picked out the good stuff all day. That is not always the truth though as you've seen. Some markets especially street ones only prop at night so this might not apply too much.

The trick when shopping at night is to be extra careful also you can bargain harder since the day is ending and the seller is tired and wants to make as much money before closing up.

Fashion at the "MET" Ball - My take

This years' event was in honor of Alexander Mc queen and also a launch of his magnificent savage beauty collection. As always celebrities and all attendees went all out with their fashion. my own two cents on the fashion here

Alicia looks good as always but this dress is one of her dowdier looks. what a cool jacket, it reminds me of old soldiers armor from the bible days. Its not so good on that dress tho.

interestingly i like this dress, or is that two dresses sewn together, SJP could wear a sack and rock it anyway

 Andre,  andre, andre what did momma say about using her bed sheets to make clothes. i know he is the fashion master but this look screams a grown up character from veggie tales and im not even sure what vegetables come in this colour.

Weve seen beyonce wear these form fitting dresses thousands of times , i feel like i want more from her. The dress is ok though but she looks extremely uncomfortable

Street fashion Kampala. Mens style

Its not common to see men who take fashion seriously in Kampala so you can imagine my joy when i spotted this guy at the mall over the weekend. This guy looked so interestingly different . I do not have the last word on whats in or out in fashion but i know this guy is  certified fashionable.see for yourself.
